Now I was perfectly sober but was carrying a carton of 4 wine coolers in one hand and a bag of snacks in the other. It was probably the 2nd or 3rd date with my now hubby. The steps were slightly icy from the freezing rain and yet down I went in the cold wet rain. 4 concrete steps and man was I bruised up. It was raining and I was running late for class (as usual. I ran into the building and when i tried to make the turn into my classroom, my wet shoes slid on the smooth floor and i ended up falling on my bum and sliding thru the door and into the middle of my classroom, stopping at the feet of my professor. There was dead silence until my professor confessed that he had never had a student "fall" for him before. The class erupted into laughter. Humilliated, i managed to stand up and, with a wet butt, find a seat in the back of the class. The only thing i really hurt was my pride.
Hope you feel better soon!Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17355824810825173279noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5983022673141607570.post-49097147408151271202010-01-30T12:49:27.508-05:002010-01-30T12:49:27.508-05:00I went to Dewberry Farm with my daughter & gra...I went to Dewberry Farm with my daughter & grandson. We were walking through the corn maze & I tripped on a corn stalk. My feet didn't move forward to break the fall so I fell flat on my face. I was carrying my camera--parts broke off and the lens was full of dirt. My glasses were bent and full of dirt and within a day, I realized I had broken a rib. I got meds from the doctor for the pain. It took about 4 weeks for the pain to stop.JoAnn TXhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10340718309403052700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5983022673141607570.post-62848178769175733502010-01-30T10:33:11.379-05:002010-01-30T10:33:11.379-05:00I, too, have been "attacked" by a baby g...I, too, have been "attacked" by a baby gate. I was working at a day care when I was in my early 20's. There was a baby gate between the room with the eating area and play area. I was walking over it with a toddler in my arms. My flip-flop got caught on it and down me, the toddler and the gate went. I was able to fully protect the child (thank goodness!), but I was pretty bruised up from the gate. That gate was brutal, it tripped many in the time I was there!Tanya Napierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18364247052958320671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5983022673141607570.post-344490409511664502010-01-30T01:27:01.494-05:002010-01-30T01:27:01.494-05:00Actually, in high school, for homecoming...this is...Actually, in high school, for homecoming...this is what happened. I don't heal as quickly as I used to,either.
When our second son was about a year
old, I was taking him to my parents'
house for a visit! Unbeknown to me,
they had a board across their doorway leading into their kitchen/family room to keep their dogs from the carpeted family room! I was holding Alex and once we got up the basement steps and into their hallway, I began to walk into their kitchen and fell hard over the unseen board. My main concern was to protect my son from injury, so both of my hands went to cover him. Thus, I couldn't break my fall. Luckily, my son's head didn't hit the floor and he was fine. I bruised pretty well up my body, but I didn't break anything!!!!!! Meanwhile, my sister, niece and my parents started laughing so hard ( once they knew that Alex and I were fine ). I slip and slide EVERY single time we go there. I really thought it was b/c of the strong drinks. Until we went for my birthday when I was pregnant. I was certainly not drinking on this trip since I was pregnant. Well needless to say I can now attest that it was NOT the alcohol that was making me slip and slide. I fell flat on my very pregnant bum and managaed to pull someone's (from another party even!!!) plate down to the floor with me! However, I can sympathize with you on rain and slick! Because I live in the desert, parking lots and roads get very slick in the rain because all the oil rises up when we do get rain. So, I happened to slip in the Target parking lot! My toe hung on the edge and I started falling. It seemed like I fell for ever. I was almost falling in slow motion. I finally landed on the sidewalk. I am 47 years old and when I looked around the only people that saw me (that I know about) were 2 ladies in their 60's or 70's walking to their car. They had stopped and watched the whole embarrassing ordeal. Then they headed to me and were saying "Are you ok?" I was, but I had hit my leg at some point and it was throbbing. My hand had broken some of the fall and had been scratched by gravel and was bleeding a very small amount. I jumped up and took off into the mall. My daughter worked at a restaurant there so far some reason I headed straight there. She was standing at the door and when I told her what I did and showed her my hand she started laughing!! I went to the restroom to clean up and found a huge knot already on my leg. I left the mall at that point and went home. Oh the comforts of home. Wrong, I told my husband and he laughed. They could not believe I could fall up!TerriChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09835308373897134515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5983022673141607570.post-26774271223549210242010-01-29T16:43:11.089-05:002010-01-29T16:43:11.089-05:00I had 2 incidents last year. We were taking one last run before quitting when an out of control snowboarder came out of nowhere and plowed into me. I was OK, except for a very sore shoulder - where he hit me.

The other incident was more my fault. I have a habit of reading while walking. One day last May on my way home from work I was doing just that when I stepped into a pot hole and went down. Nothing was broken, but my foot was severly sprained. I ended up in a "boot" which I wore that weekend to the graduations of both of my sons - one from college and one from high school (and a niece also from high school the same weekend). And the boot also slowed me down a bit on a trip to the Canadian Rockies that we took just after graduations. It's not very easy to hike when you're wearing one of those boots, but I manages a couple of short hikes anyway! I hope you're feeling better soon.LauriBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10741137570277006296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5983022673141607570.post-12411404031127605552010-01-29T15:51:47.077-05:002010-01-29T15:51:47.077-05:00I can't recall a fall but once at church when ...I can't recall a fall but once at church when I stood up, my skirt fell below my butt. One of the worst for me happened on a cruise ship. I had gotten up in the night to use the facilities. I don't know if I didn't have my sea legs or what, but I lost my balance and fell on top of a table that was in our room. It knocked the wind out of me and I had several cuts & bruises. Not pretty in a bathing suit! Plus, I was pretty stiff & sore for the rest of the cruise. We still had a great time though!VickiMouse2006https://www.blogger.com/profile/16430526314414587039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5983022673141607570.post-69233889939727711832010-01-29T12:17:57.798-05:002010-01-29T12:17:57.798-05:00Oh, I have fallen. I think that I am the biggest ...Oh, I have fallen. I think that I am the biggest clutz in the world. Besides falling off the porch of our cabin, falling in the garage off brick steps and just tripping over my two feet and a rug in the grocery store of all places. Except for the rain in the grocery store I couldn't blame snow or rain for any of it. Just me! The biggest fall I have had is when we were building an addition to our house and I decided to do the painting and wallpapering myself since I was here all day anyway. I had a small step stool that I was going around and using and I was rushing around as usual and not paying attention to what I was doing. I placed the stool over a vent that had yet to be covered since we had no flooring down. Only the corner of the stool was there on it so when I placed my full weight on it I took a nasty tumble with lots of power tools and other misc. building supplies around. Needless to say, no one seen it, but I was in my gown and I beleive I was black and blue from my lower back all over especially my tushie! I guess I should consider it a blessing that nothing was broken!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17336024310335617064noreply@blogger.com
