Another fun giveaway....

Just because it's Friday, we've got another Fabulous Friday Giveaway!

This week, we are giving 2 lucky winners a Fold Out Accordion book from Cardstock Warehouse. If you haven't heard of Cardstock Warehouse, we just love them! They make the 36 custom colors of cardstock we use on a daily basis...and it's just the best....one side is textured and one side is smooth, the best of both worlds...gotta love that.

And, to be entered to win, just leave a comment here (or email us) to let us know one of your favorite birthday memories. Sunday is my 43rd, and I'll be back on here Sunday night to post the winners...and maybe share a funny story or two of our weekend. (I'm off on a family adventure that my brother has deemed "Lampoon's Wilderness Weekend"...so I'm sure funny stories WON'T be in short supply!)

Happy Friday!

I have great birthday memories from childhood. My mom would make me shaped caked--back before Wilton pans!

My 18th birthday was the best! Instead of a cake, I had a watermelon, complete with birthday candles. And my present was a little gray kitten - Melanie Amanda.

My fiftieth was the best. Yes, I know that I should have been distraught and crying but I was surrounded by all my family, including my three grandchildren and, of course, what do I scrap the most about??? My grandchildren! At 50 I was healthy, had a great husband and family and a wonderful job. I only hope I'm still that lucky at age 60. I'll still be making mini-albums and double page spreads of my favorite subjects!

When I was a kid, my Mom and Dad bought me a dress and hung it up on my curtains, so it was the first thing I saw when I woke up.

My birthday memories were from when I was a child living in N.J. I shared my birthday with my godfather, Uncle Milton. He and Aunt Vera and their children and families would all come to our house to celebrate with a cookout. My grandfather loved to barbeque and was a fabulous cook. The weather was always great.

I think that I have one of the best birthdays of all - July 4th. Throughout my childhood, we had a cookout for supper and fireworks at night, of course. We'd play with sparklers before it got dark and then get to stay up late to watch the show. I still LOVE to have a cookout on July 4!

My 20th birthday was spent in Basic Training. It happened to fall on the same day as a sports day so we were allowed a little bit of freedom. I was able to buy a Snickers bar and it seemed like the best gift I had ever received! I'm sure my hubby wishes he could get away with spending less than $1, but those days are loooooong gone! :-)

My favorite birthday memory is my 40th. My husband planned - and pulled off - a surprise sit-down dinner for us and about 20 couples from our church. It included each husband telling something special about his wife (this was a surprise to the women - they knew about the party, but not about the personal tributes). We had poems, songs, even a ukelele was used! It was wonderful, and we even video-taped it!

Happy Birthday!! My birthday is on the 23rd of Feb. My favorite birthday memory was when my husband bought me a cake for my birthday. Our kids were young then. When it came time for me to cut my cake and all mouths open to dig in, I could not get a knife throught it. Guess what? It was a cardboard cake!! The young man at our local grocery store sold him their cardboard display cake. It took years for him to forget it. Needless to say, there was no cake for mom, but the thought was precious, and funny. Ha! Ha!

First off, happy birthday and I hope you have a super birthday weekend. My best birthday was when I turned 50. My husband sent me and 5 of my buddies (including some of my sisters) to St. Louis for a 3-day weekend. We stayed in a great condo that accommodated us all. He gave one of my sisters different envelopes that held planned activites that he had pre-arranged. A great time was had by all. This year I am turning 60 and I'm anxious to spend it with my wonderful grandson who will turn 2 about 1 week before I turn 60. Again, Happy Birthday

For the last 3 birthdays, my 2 grown daughters have spent the entire day with me. Three years ago, we went to the CKC convention together, last year we painted pottery and this year we went shopping. I was so excited and honored that they took off from work to spend my birthday with me.

One of my favorite birthday memories is from just a few years ago. I LOVE chocolate cake, but I'm not crazy about store bought cakes for the most part. My husband would usually buy me a cake for my birthday or try to get one of the kids to make one for me. (He hates to cook anything except PB&J sandwiches:) But this year, he actually made me a wonderful devils food chocolate cake and got candles for it and everything. It tasted so good, and I loved how he did that just for me.

Growing up your birthday day was your special day -no chores, no lectures etc, I continue this tradition with my own family and it is fun for everyone to be king/queen/princess of the day.
