Keller made this for me in preschool...and I still treasure it. It shows what today is all about. God's grace. Thru Lent and especially on Good Friday, we remember what God has given us.
And, we all know the miracle of Easter, and that is what we look forward to after Good Friday each year. Easter memories for me are of church...dying eggs....indulging in what we gave up during Lent (this year, it's chocolate for me and sugared-sodas for Keller)...family...trips to the beach...the beginning of Masters in Augusta....oh, so many different memories.

We will head to the Sunrise Serivce down by the water with my parents, then to the regular service at our own church, then lunch and egg hunt with my parents and then dinner with my in-laws. Love sharing these fun traditions with my own little bunny!
The best part of this Easter is that my one son is coming to visit. He will be leaving for Iraq in May. Memories: My grandmother always gave us a Fanny Farmer Special Easter Eggs. Boy were they good. Another memory is how our children after finding Easter eggs in the morning would take turns hiding them on their own. This went on forever. But what great fun they had.
Easter celebration starts on Good Friday (because without Good Friday there is no Easter) with silence and the Stations of the Cross. Saturday is a day of reflection and preparation (dying of Easter eggs). Easter Sunday is celebrated with sunrise Mass followed by the mantic, frantic, frolicing Easter Egg hunt topped off with midday Easter supper.
I love going to church on Easter! We will also be celebrating with friends at a nighttime egg hunt Saturday night and brunch on Sunday!
I have such fond memories of growing up and attending church with my family. My parents always made sure we had new pretty Easter clothes to wear so we felt special. Today we pay tribute to Christ for his ultimate sacrifice. As an adult now I know the harsh reality of just how much he did suffer. On Sunday we will celebrate the miracle of Easter as God breathes life back into his son. HE IS RISEN! PRAISE GOD!
This Easter is going to be bitter sweet for my family. My husband Kevin is in the Navy and it is rare for him to be home to celebrate any special event with the kids and me.The boys and I are very excited to get to spend this very special day in Jacksonville with him.The bitter part is he deploys for 6 months on Monday 4/5.I am thankful we have one last day to spend together and the fact it's Easter just makes it more special to all of us.Please pray for his safe return.
Well, I have to say for once this year I'm doing something different. I usually go to church first thing and then cook for my complete family for noon... EVERY Easter. Well, my family and I are going to Easter Vigil tomorrow and then, on Sunday, we are going on my brothers boat... the complete family, my dad included! I'm so excited that I have already charged my camera batteries, made sure my card is ready, and, to top it off, laid out my kids bathing suits that will coordinate with scrapbooking layouts. We have even died the eggs for "pocking".. a tradition my mom brought us up doing.. (MOM, I still miss you!) I am truly blessed to be with my family at Easter. For those who can't be, my thoughts are with you. Easter is my favorite holiday. It always was for my mom and it reminds me that I can do what I want to do because of what God did for ME!
OOOPPPPSSS... the last post should have said dyed eggs... sorry
We started this evening by attending a church service. As scriptures were read, lights were turned out, 'til we left in darkness and silence - very moving. Tonight or tomorrow, I'll make Jello Jiggler eggs and we'll dye eggs. I might even try decorating one with scrapbook supplies. Then Easter morning the boys (even thought they're 19 & 24) will hunt for eggs before we head off to church for breakfast, then the service. After that, we'll watch the young children hunt eggs at church. Then we'll head to my parents home for easter dinner (hopefully with all of my sibblings and most of their children). Grandma doesn't hide eggs anymore - everyone has gotten too old. Later in the afternoon we'll go out to the farm where my husband grew up. The city EB always leaves a basket with a chocolate rabbit & a video (& an Easter themed book when they were younger) and other candy. He also hides plastic (and some hard boiled eggs inside the house. But in the country, you have to build a nest and decorate it so that the EB will leave candy.
We're celebrating in an unconventional style this year. We'll be at game two of the second round of the playoffs for the Winterhawks (our local major junior hockey team). Matt and I got married on the ice at one of their games so it's a special thing for our family. - Kirsten
Easter holds many good memories, but the funniest one happened on Holy Saturday at the vigil Mass. Traditionally, everyone gets to hold a small candle that is lit from the large Easter candle. One year we heard a commotion and looked across the aisle to find that a young teenager had caught her book on fire! She tried to put it out by swinging it back and forth, but of course the added air just made it worse. Her parents quickly helped her out, though, and the fire was extinguished. Now, never does an Easter pass without me thinking of the gal that lit her book on fire in church! Ahh, those were the good 'ol days!

I have always loved Easter as it is a time of renewal - with weather, nature and renewal of my spiritual commitment. I love being with my family and enjoying all the traditions of a beautiful church service, pretty dresses and egg hunting; but the most special Easter ever was being baptized on Easter Sunday at age 10. Each year I am taken back to that day and those feelings of gratitude, joy and peace.
