I am a nurse at the Veterans Hospital and i am lucky enough to be able to care for our military heros every day. I know what July 4th and freedom mean and what our military fought for and are still fighting for and the sacrifices they made to make sure we all sleep soundly at night. God Bless our Military!! Happy 4th everyone! Cindy T.

July 4th, to me, means a chance to thank those that work so hard to protect us. America would be in a completley different state of affairs if we didn't have these brave men and women doing what so many can't or won't do to defend our amazing country. It also means a big cookout with friends and family and fireworks. What a celebration!

It means time with with family and friends. Great food and fireworks and we always stop and say a prayer for our military.

July 4th is about showing respect for our military, having fun with family and friends, along with eating some real good food!
Top it all off with some fireworks :)

Hi Kim, for the past 20 years my parents have lived on a lake that celebrates the 4th on the 3rd with a ring of fire and then fireworks at the end. This was the first time not being able to watch from their house(they have moved from the lake). But my husband and I decided that we still needed to be a part of this spectacular display one more time. We watched it from a different point of view, while it was a little sad not being at my parents to watch this, it was just as spectacular from a different perspective.

July 4th is a very special celebration for our family. My father, brothers, nephews all are veterans. Service to our country is one of the important lessons of our lives and growing up 4th of July was so special. All the family, remembrances for the fallen heros of our past, always a picnic and parade. Many summers it was a family reunion event on the lake or river with time to spend with our extended families. Now that we have lost our Dad it was especially poignant and meaningful this year. Love your site.

July 4th means family time--immediate and extended. It's also time to talk about how America became a country, to talk about how people sacrifice so that we can live here, and to appreciate their sacrifice both past and present.
